WARNINGS OF SEVERE WEATHER |
These warnings are issued when severe weather is expected
to cause disruption to traffic etc. over the next few hours.
Heavy rain expected in parts of the UK this evening and overnight. Local
torrential downpours will make driving dangerous in places. |
ADVANCE WARNING OF SEVERE WEATHER
Here is an ADVANCED WARNING of Heavy Rain affecting Scotland, Northern Ireland,
England and Wales.

WARNING of the occurrence of severe weather conditions between 09:00 on Sunday 8
August 2004 and 23:59 on Wednesday 11 August 2004.
The Met Office is forecasting a deep depression to become slow moving west of
Ireland over next few days bringing periods of heavy rain and strong winds to
much of the country. Northern Ireland, Wales and southern England most at risk
today with the rain expected to spread further east during Monday and Tuesday
and become increasingly thundery with some violent thunderstorms and very heavy
downpours. Drier but showery weather will follow from the west. Some prolonged
periods of heavy rain are likely in northern England later Monday and eastern
Scotland and northeast England during Tuesday and Wednesday. Rainfall
accumulations throughout the period are likely to exceed 60mm in many places,
but more especially in the northeast, with localised flooding.
