One pigeon fancier in Prince Albert, Canada is trying to change the 5 pigeons per resident limit, to enable him to start a racing club.
John Steel, a local dentist, has addressed the city council requesting that the limit be raised to 20 pigeons each. John has raised and raced pigeons for 25 years, being president of the Band City Pigeon Racing Club, Moose Jaw, before moving to Prince Albert 5 years ago.
Local bylaw prevents any resident of Prince Albert from keeping more than 5 pigeons.
Councillors have voiced concerns about noise, the spread of disease, and the birds possibly encouraging feral birds into the area.
